Local Initiatives
Cancer Support Service Uxbridge Library in partnership with Community Cancer Centre (CCC) is offering a new information service for anyone affected by cancer. The drop-in sessions provide support with quality, personalised health information using the NHS Choices website. you will be supported by trained volunters from the CCC .
Sessions take place on the first Friday of each month from 10am to noon at Uxbridge Library, the library will also make available book on the subject. Click here for location details.

Healthy Hillingdon is a health promotion partnership jointly run by Hillingdon Council and Hillingdon Primary Healthcare Trust. There are various ways to achieve better health, whether by choosing to quit smoking, by becoming more active or by choosing to eat more healthily.

Get Active - ideas and advice for maintaining physical and emotional health for the over-50's. The leaflets are produced by Healthy Hillingdon and are available in your local library.
HCIL or The Hillingdon Centre for Independent Living is a service recently launched to benefit Hillingdon residents who experience difficulties with daily living due to illness, disability or old age. The HCIL offers free, independent advice as well as showcasing aids that can help daily living. These include household equipment, bathing and personal care items, chairs and sensory equipment. Advice and ideas for retired residents - Life Changes is a new section of the council website that offers practical advice and information for retired people. These web pages contain benefits information, discussion forums and much more.
The MEND Programme is coming to Highgrove Pool, Ruislip. If you have a child between the ages of 7 and 13 who would benefit from help and advice to lose weight and become healthier then call 0208 573 2634 now. A Parent or guardian will need to attend each of the twenty sessions over the ten week period. Each session will last two hours and will take place at Highgrove Pool on a Monday and Friday after school.
